As the final chapter of Game of Thrones approaches, rumours are flying like dragons. Filming of Season 8 is complete, and the media have been mobbing the cast with questions in an attempt to unearth the tiniest detail about the outcome of the game of thrones of the Seven Kingdoms. Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, has received particular attention after getting an innocent tattoo which a handful of fans tried to decipher. But the actress is also chatty during her interviews, and helps to heighten the hype around the grand finale.
The cast of Game of Thrones are clearly playing a role in boosting the excitement and impatience surrounding the end of the saga, by promising more deaths in a single season than in the seven preceding seasons, among other comments. Interviewed by Digital Spy, Sophie Turner made several additional promises to reassure more skeptical fans about the show’s ending, which shouldn’t disappoint:
“For me, I was satisfied with how unpredictable the show’s ending really is. People have come up with so many fan theories about how it’s going to end, and who will end up where, and who will end up with who. It really is so unpredictable the way that it ends up. I’m very satisfied with that, and I think that the fans will be satisfied with that, too.”
Clearly, neither Jon Snow nor Daenerys will end up on the Iron Throne, and much less together. All clues currently point to a victory of the Night King and his hordes of White Walkers as the most likely ending. Knowing George R.R. Martin’s sadistic mind, bequeathed to showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff, we should be seriously worried on behalf of our heroes.
Or perhaps the duo have decided to create an ending worthy of Lost, by giving the most underestimated character in the series all the power. This was the case of the hilarious, generous Hurley, who became guardian of the island following the death of Jacob and the other candidates. As for Game of Thrones, we’re betting on his alter ego, the good old Samwell Tarly. Because everyone needs a Sam in their life, and the people of Westeros would finally be able to live in peace with the former member of the Night’s Watch to guide them.
