Chucky Will Soon Be Back, Thanks To The Producers of ‘It’

He’s cheap, iconic, terrifying and terribly in demand, all at the same time. After a seventh film in 2017, the doll made into a real toy is set to get its own remake, as reported by The Collider. This new project will be led by David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith, the producers of It.

Since the release of Child’s Play in 1988, the first in the series of horror movies to feature the evil doll, the franchise created by Don Mancini has been fueling our fears. Last year, Chucky made us shudder for the seventh time in Cult of Chucky. Bolstered by the duo of producers, this movie looks set to go further than previous remakes, which were never released in cinemas, instead going straight to DVD, Blu-ray and VoD.

According to the journalist who revealed the information, it’s possible that the MGM studio will recast the voice of the killer doll to set things off on the right foot. At this stage, we don’t yet know who will participate in the project or what the plot of the film will be, but we’ve been promised an ambiance akin to that of Stranger Things.

The movie will be directed by Lars Klevberg, director of Polaroid, with a screenplay by Tyler Burton Smith, known for video games Sleeping Dogs and Quantum Break. Filming will begin in Vancouver in September.
