Onika Tanya Maraj (born December 8, 1982), known professionally as Nicki Minaj (English: /mɪˈnɑːʒ/), is a Trinidadian-American rapper, singer, songwriter and model.[3][4][5][6][7] Born in Saint JamesTrinidad and Tobago and raised in QueensNew York, Minaj gained public recognition after releasing three mixtapes between 2007 to 2009 and subsequently signed to Young Money Entertainment in 2009.
